Lots of updates for you!

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well and coping in these increasingly strange and difficult times. I am sorry that I have been a bit quiet over the last few weeks - it has been a very busy and quite stressful time - but things are definitely looking up!

As many of you will know I have been working as an artist part time, alongside my job as a horse riding instructor. I had been furloughed when I started the business (after originally being made redundant but then reinstated) and in the last couple of months I had returned part time and was slowly building my hours back up as things started to return to normality. I love teaching and being an instructor but it is definitely a hard job - physically and mentally (not to mention the bad weather!) and I started to find it very difficult to combine my teaching with my art business - I was exhausted and finding it very difficult to concentrate. As a result I was spending all of my time doing portrait commissions and spending no time on the background work (admin work, accounts, getting my work seen) and as a result my business wasn't doing as well.

So a couple of weeks ago after a long heart to heart (and a bottle of wine) with Scott, we decided I needed to give it a go. The awful current circumstances with the global coronavirus pandemic had caused me to start the business in the first place - and the same circumstances had shown us that there is no time like the present and there may only be one chance to give it a go - so that is what I am doing! I handed my notice in at the riding stables (a sad day - I will really miss it) and last week I started working as a full time artist (scary and so exciting!). I managed to sneak in a week away to the Yorkshire Dales in between finishing as an instructor and starting as a full time artist which was great for some headspace and some serious planning time! For anyone who hasn't been to the Dales I thoroughly recommend it - a stunningly beautiful part of the world - and very dog friendly which is perfect.

So - onto my exciting plans for the future! I am so excited to grow as an artist. I will be taking lots of time to learn and develop my skills with coloured pencils and I have also decided to have a go with some watercolours and inks. This will add something different to my artwork and I think it will be really fun to work on some very different projects!

I am adding more stock to my shop as I go along, so keep an eye out for new items! I will also be holding some giveaways and releasing offers in the run up to Christmas so also keep an eye on my Instagram and Facebook pages for more details! You can also sign up to email updates HERE for exclusive offers and updates). I am also hoping to have some Christmas Cards finished very soon!

I was hoping to have a calendar ready for 2021, but unfortunately I will not be in a position to have this complete in time - but I will be using the images from my "Dogs!" series to produce a calendar for 2022. I will be posting updates of the dogs chosen and the artworks as I go along - each dog will be one of my supporters own pets!

I have started a YouTube channel with tutorials, updates, vlogs, reviews and so much more. I am really enjoying creating the videos and it is something I really want to do more of in the future - so I would love for you to have a look and subscribe to my channel! I am hoping to also start a patreon channel in 2021.

Thank you for having a read of my updates - it is a very exciting time and I am so happy to be sharing this journey with you.
